right when I sense a hint of pain beginning to set in. Due to increasingly frequent occurrences a few months back I started reading up on ways to prevent these dreadful attacks from happening. Although, there is no definite cure for headache, you can always take steps toward reducing risk factors.
Listed below are a few tips that have done wonders for me:
- Have enough sleep- A daily downtime of about 6 hours would do.
- Eat healthy- Reduce intake of fatty foods especially those generously sprinkled with M.S.G.. Chinese food is a big culprit, it's delicious but a balanced diet with just enough greens and protein is best in fighting this ailment.
- Exercise regularly- I'm assuming that most you like myself are busy with work so attaining a six pack and Rambo like pecks is next to impossible. What works for me personally is about 30 minutes of cardio 3x a week, it doesn't sound like much but it has had a profound impact, that I hardly experience any headache these days.
- De-stress- Stress is a regular part of everyday life, it's unavoidable and everyone experiences it but it is also a huge contributing factor to headaches. Although most of us spend the entire day at work there are simple, effective ways to relieve tension. Simple activities such as taking a minute to share a few jokes with the colleague seated next to you or reading an interesting article online will take your mind off work for a few moments, which will greatly reduce stress and prevent the possibility of a debilitating headache.
There is an abundance of sources online including forums with several threads sharing different opinions on the best cure for headache. Above are simply those I've personally applied and found effective. You may find other tips out there that are better suited to your lifestyle, what's important is that whatever it is, it must be effective and sustainable. Adopting new habits is not always easy but once you get accustomed to them the benefits are long term.
